Mid-2013 Macbook Air screen goes black?

How to I enable Chrome logging? I executed Chrome from Terminal - but got nothing.

But I tried to get this error message again, by repeating the process. But the second time, I didn't the error message. I still got the black screen, but no message in Terminal. I tried to open the Logs, however there is no Google folder under application supprort. I have enabled logging with Google under preferences. Any tips on how to get the log?

This is the command I ran to enable loging.

/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google\ Chrome --enable-logging --v=1

Ive read a couple places about that error message, but find no resolution to same as posted by others regarding that. A Chrome/code genius is going to have to tackle that one. I am taking my MacBook Air in tomorrow for a genius reservation. I have never installed chrome.

What are you running then when the 'blackout' occurs if not Chrome?

PS I don't see how disabling everything that makes your machine to sleep as a solution, that's just stupid... its a work-around at the best and not even a good one... so to call it a "fix" is ridiculous.

Maybe there are two issues here, because getting rid of Chrome has appeared to stop my machine from 'blacking out' I sat with it the whole day yesterday and allowed to to sleep/wake/sleep/wake with none of the "fixes" applied other then removing Chrome completely and my machine appears to be working perfectly now.

Maybe other have some other similar software that causing a similar issue, which may be resolved either at Apples end with a future update or in the next build of the software that causing it.

No-one has managed to replicate the problem intentionally without Chrome being involved.

My second replacement was also having this problem.

I'm not so sure anymore this is only impacting a certain amount of people. What would be the chance of getting 3 faulty machines in a row.

This might be the intrinsic error of this year Macbook's architecture or the glitch that next OS upgrade should fix.

Probably I'm going to keep this unit keeping fingers crossed to get it fixed by update.

Just wanted to let you guys know. Ever since I installed a certain unmentionable thing....hasn't happened even once. Going on over 3 weeks straight now without a single unwanted sleep and it was happening 5-7 times a day. Just wanted to tell you to hold out because it seems like a software bug that gets fixed later.

Ok, back at it today, had chrome uninstalled and had one blackout already today. This was not the temporary one with the active mouse, but it completely reentered sleep and had to be rewoken about 45 seconds after coming out of sleep. I don't have password disabled, but I have to have password protection on.

I am actually a little relieved that it's not chrome (or at least not ONLY Chrome in my case). I don't doubt people may be having issues with Chrome contributing to the problem, but for me, it seems the most bothersome blackouts at least are not directly related to Chrome (though the temporary black screen with the visible/active mouse pointer might be, it seems I am having two different 'blackout' issues, that may or may not be related). I reinstalled Chrome since there are some extensions/apps I need that are only available on it, and haven't had a problem since, but I know it's just a matter of time. Hopefully both issues can be fixed with a patch from Apple.

Sorry to hear people who have exchanged are contuing to see the same issue. I wonder, could it be something that was restored from your backed up data that is being put on the new machine causing it, or are you starting out completely fresh with the replacements?

The unmentionable thing is unmentionable because it's covered by an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). Maybe some other users can help you figure it out.

Hmmm....I have had on average perhaps one 'blackout' per day. Two of which (in 2 months) have needed me to press&hold the power to 'hard reboot' the Air.

I do use Chrome a lot.....like it, & don't really want to remove it to see. Of course since I found this thread 2 days ago, I haven't had any cases of blackout !

JazPrince, why would you have an NDA to install something: clues for the clueless like me are needed - perhaps it will just be a s/w update in the near future?!

Hi, I just want to share that I started suffering the blackouts you mention a few days ago.

I can not tell you if this this due to Chrome or Safari, I would say the running browser does not make a difference but I am not 100% sure, I just know it happen from time to time.

I'm guessing Maverics. Unless Apple has specifically given you a fix to try out!
