Sep 12, 2013 3:10 PM in response to jonmc12by jonmc12,update - a little while after installing 10.8.5, I went out to grab coffee. I came back to desk and logged in, then my MBA went back to sleep about 20s after login. Black screen, mouse showing, hung.
Unfortunately, does not appear that 10.8.5 update improved much, if anything, for my MBA sleep issues.

Sep 13, 2013 2:01 AM in response to jportnoyby IlseN,Hello,
I have my macbook last bought and I have also suffered from a complaint. My monitor become regularly suddenly black. What should I do about this? or where can I report that something is done.

Sep 13, 2013 5:37 AM in response to IlseNby mikeiow,I have chosen to live with this.
However, given the fact that a LOT of people are seeing an issue, if I were in your shoes, & if it weren't an inconvenience, I would return it for replacement. Particularly since this is day 1 for you !!
& I would keep doing that until I found one that did not exhibit the behaviour.
Maybe that way Apple would take a more proactive role in trying to resolve it.
Out of curiosity, are you running chrome ? Most suffers appear to be......but then I like chrome !
cheers

Sep 13, 2013 6:40 AM in response to PlotinusVeritasby @ntoni0,So, this is problem of all macbook air 2013 or some of them?
-
Sep 13, 2013 6:44 AM in response to @ntoni0by mikeiow,I don't think it is *all* of them !
But certainly this thread indicates a good number of folk hit this.
I've just decided to remove chrome & try my hand with firefox for a while. Will see if this makes any difference !
(probably should do a full reboot just to be sure!) -
Sep 13, 2013 9:42 AM in response to jportnoyby Guchi922,One more Mac air with this issue when is apple going to fix it? I went to the store and they said to need 48-72 hs to check if there is a problem. 48-72? come on! any one can be that long without their computer. I paid lot of money for this pail of crap!

Sep 13, 2013 11:25 AM in response to Guchi922by DenisHo,Hi all,
I've decided to live with this because I really like my MBA. In fact I find it more inconvenient that I can't use my old infra-red remote control for my MBPro than this, as it's only an occasional problem. I was teaching all today, with Chrome running, I had the MBA on power and an external projector and it didn't flinch once (in fact since I've had it, I've never had the problem while teaching--I mostly get it when I've been developing and then go away and come back and wake it).
Several people have suggested getting a replacement, but do we know from anyone that this actually works????
Is there anyone out there who had this problem, swapped for another MBA and now doesn't have the problem? Ideally someone who restored from the same Time Machine backup, so we know it's definitely a hardware problem and not due to software in some way?
I realise that people who don't have the problem won't be reading this thread any more... but maybe one person could report back?
Fingeres crossed that there'll be a fix one day!

Sep 13, 2013 11:29 AM in response to DenisHoby jonmc12,@DenisHo - I swapped out my MBA for another, both had the problem. Personally, I have not seend a 2013 MBA that does not have the issue.

Sep 14, 2013 1:15 AM in response to mikeiowby Blackbird77,Hey,
Just to reply to a few post in one reply...
I had two mid 2013 MBA, purely because the first turned up dented out of the box, so I had one for a few weeks while they built my current one, both experience blackouts, both had chrome installed.
Mikeiow, if you read back through my posts you will find I too have had great success from uninstalling Chrome, I have been blackout free since the day I uninstalled it about 5weeks ago now. Not a single issue since, hope your problem is now sorted like mine appears to be.
I recommended that people try this if you have chrome installed, if nothing else other then to prove its chrome in SOME instances.

Sep 14, 2013 5:16 AM in response to jonmc12by AstroMacMan,I've been using my 2013 MacBook Air for several weeks now and had no screen blackout issue.
I mention this, not to rub it in, but to counter the suggestions by some that it's ALL MBAs that are having this problem. But I do feel your pain.
Note: I do not have Chrome installed.

Sep 14, 2013 5:43 AM in response to AstroMacManby Blackbird77,AstroMacMan,
Think you could be arsed to download Chrome and see if you start getting the blackouts?
All helps build the case that Chrome has something to do with this issue.
