Q: new airport extreme

i just purchased the latest airport extreme - before i set up just wanted some feedback on a couple of things:

1. when i set up the new, will my previous setting take hold, or do i have to re-set everything. including a password, etc.

2. the extreme that i currently have (gen 5) can that now be used as an extender? ( i was previously using older airport expresses.)

3. with the size/layout of my house (and my business where i will set up a new one as well) my plan is to use the new airport base station and the old one as an extender, along with a new airport express as well. my thoughts are that  this should give me enough range through the house with this set up. Or is it overkill?

thanks for any advice out there.

Having trouble with the guest network at my office. i have the new aebs with 3 extenders. all that works fine under my personal network name. however whenever i try to add the a guest network all i get is a blinking amber on the new aebs and the network isn't recognized. then i have to re-set everything to get back to normal. i thought i was following the steps correctly but maybe you could offer some help. thanks.
