Buying a Mac Pro on Craigslist, is this guy for real?

So I saw this ad on Craigslist: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/sys/3881360162.html

Seems like a good deal. It's a 2008 8 Core Mac Pro 16gb RAM for $895.

He starts talking about a 2009 model that's "way better" for $1400. (seen here: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/sys/3882089636.html)

So I'm asking about why the difference in price? One year for $500? I mention that one thing I'm doing is upping the ram to 32 gb and he says it's way more expensive to do in the older model. "way different ram, lots more money"

Is this true or is he full of it?
