I am a grandmother who doesn't use all the apps that are on the iphone. I am planning a nice vacation where I will be flying quite a lot. Please tell me how to use noise cancelling earphones with my iphone. If I download an audio book, will I be able to listen to that on the plane. I also have an ipad, can I use the earphones with that as well. I had such a bad experience on my last trip with screaming babies on international flights. Thanks

Yes.
iPhones and iPads take standard 3.5 mm headphone jacks, which means that can use pretty much any headphone design ed for a portable device available, including noise cancelling models. As soon as you plug the headphones in, the audio transfers from teh speaker to the headphone so nothing to set, and volume is handled as you would without the headphiones.

Thanks so much for your detailed answer. I plan to purchase Able Planet True Fidelity Noise Cancelling earphones. Now I just have to figure out which "sleeping" type of music to put on the devices and select a good audio book so I can learn how to use the earphones before I fly away.
