Bizarre Error Message When Updating Ipod

Everytime I hook up my Ipod to Itunes to update, about half-way through its update I get this error message:

"An error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

I click ok and everything transfers over just fine. Any ideas? I just reinstalled Itunes (well, it did a repair) and I still get the error....

I have the same issue, but I use Two user types Admin and My user, I use my user for daily work and I get the message, the admin will update with no issues, I do not know if this is your case but just an idea

You get that message only if you're using a regular (non-admin) account on your Mac. The reason is that non-admin users have a block on their ability to update and install/download (like on a Windows XP PC). So try updating your iPod on an admin user, and it should work.

Intel-based Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.6) Also own a Dell laptop & PC.

When you put other OS, what is your operating system (you can check by right clicking on my computer and going to properties, then going to the general tab)

Take a look at this article for some more information:

Basically, what you need to do is ask the person who is an administrator user on your PC to log in, and edit your user account to make you an administrator user. Or, just use their account whenever you want to do anything with your iTunes/iPod.

i have the same error message when updating photos, but then all the ipod update stops, and i am on an admin account.. ! Someone can help ??

Make sure that the folder permissions for the folder where your photos are stored are correct. See the link in my above post.
