I would like to change the orientation of a photo in iPhoto from horizontal to vertical. Is this possible? Thanks for your help!

When I rotate the photo, it still stays as a horizontal photo. And if I just crop, then I do not have the measurements constraining the photo to help me to have the correct size for printing.

That's not as it should be. As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Depends on what you mean
you either rotate the photo or use the crop tool depending on what you want to do

Whne you crop you click the constraints button and then set your desired constraints - cropping is a ratio so simply crop to the desired print size (4x6, 8x10, etc)
