I have an iPad 3, it won't boot. Just goes to kernel panic. I reset and connected to iTunes (updated to latest version on a windows 7 home laptop. Firewall disabled. Microsoft security essentials, no other virus scan software.
Each time the error is returned, unable to restore.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same issue as stated above. After entering recovery mode iTunes fails to recover the device. I've tried different computers and different cables and I get the same result. Sometimes when powering the device up I'll get this screen along with the apple logo:
