What exactly did you update? What is your current Aperture version and MacOS X version?
When I open up aperture I can see all my photos in a library in the browser mode.
So the thumbnails are o.k.
If I click on a photo or try to view it from any other viewer or split viewer mode the screen is just black
. I just can't see it.
I have tried the Aperture first aid steps and it did nothing. I have tried older libraries and had the same results.
Perhaps your Aperture preferences file is broken.
Try to remove the Aperture preferences as described in this document
Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics
See the paragraph: Delete the user preferences.
If you are using MacOS X Lion or Mt. Lion, log off and on again, after removing you User Preferences, otherwise the fix may not take.
