Q: Restore SSD from scratch? Only 32Kb visible

Hi, community! Need help!

One day my Macbook Air 2012 stuck and I restarted (after 4s) with power button. Got error -60003D.

After I managed to start macbook from external drive I got this about native internal SSD:

Capacity:          33 KB (32,768 bytes)

  Model:          SandForce{200026BB}

  Revision:          306ABBR0

  Serial Number:          1

  Native Command Queuing:          Yes

  Queue Depth:          32

  Removable Media:          No

  Detachable Drive:          No

  BSD Name:          disk0

  Medium Type:          Solid State

  TRIM Support:          No

  Partition Map Type:          Unknown

  S.M.A.R.T. status:          Not Supported

(should be 128Gb)

Sorry, If this problem is too obvious and I miss it in search.

I'm really miss my tiny comfortable macbook.

Thanks in advance for your help!

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), 4Gb / 128Gb

6 months? That's the youngest failure I've seen so far, guess that means the problem wasn't limited to the first couple batches. At least you can get it replaced for free.

I just fitted a replacement SSD from OWC.  Pretty easy to do and alot cheaper than getting it done by apple.

Hi I comment something Apple has launched a program of substitution Flash MacBook Air units (hard drive) that if your team is bought by Apple nswer clauses will be repaired for free, to verify that carried his team to a Technical Service Apple for more information.

Just visited the lads at Castle Hill (Aus) store, and organised replacement under Apple support program. They are replacing it with a Samsung SSD instead of the Toshiba (phew). Apparently a little delay on parts, but said it shouldn't be too long.

    Hi,

I have the same system output for the SSD as the original poster, AntonMaloff. Because I'm using an USB portable hard drive to boot up the Macbook Air which I bought when it first announced (June, 2012), I'm unable to install the SSD Firmware Update 1.1. The installer states that this computer does not need this update.

I'm assuming that because the startup disk is not an Apple hardware, the update cannot detect the SSD hardware. Or my SSD has already dead, it is unable to detect it. Am I right?

Because this Macbook Air has out of warranty (SSD was broken on July 2013, exactly 13 months after the purchase), does anyone know I'm eligible for a free SSD replacement?

I'm afraid that the Apple representative cannot understand me over the phone because of my speech disability, so I would like to try on the support forum.

    Please help. Thanks!

Update: Here is the full system report of SSD for my Macbook Air in case there are some differences from AntonMaloff. Thanks.
