Backup didn't finish, but still took up all of my computers memory. How do I find it and delete it?

Last night before I went to bed I started to backup my iPod. I forgot I only had about 14gb of space left on my computer. When I woke up it said unable to finish backup due to insignificant space on my computer. It didn't finish but when I checked my memory all 14gb of memory was gone. I went to the backup folder on my Itunes and it didn't show any kind of backup has been saved. So what I'm wondering is how do I find whatever took 14gb of memory and delete it? I'm assuming theres a partial saved backup on my computer somewhere.

Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and select the backup and click on delete.

If not there then manually delete the backup.

iTunes places the backup files in the following places:

  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
  • Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
  • Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press theReturn key.
