Apple Cinema Display connection problem

Can anyone help? Someone else has tried my Apple 23" Cinema Display on their powerbook and the small light on the Apple 23 Cinema Display flashes on and off. It works perfectly on old G5 and goes out when connected and and then comes on and stays on when the computer sleeps or switched off. Done usual connection stuff.

Any ideas?
