It does have video - the grey screen with the Apple logo, along with the spinning circle that never stops spinning. I tried waiting for 20 minutes - no change. I tried unplugging the power cord from the computer; no change. I also tried an old install disc, but I'm not sure if the computer even tried to read from the disc drive. I've also tried restting the PRAM, holding down "X' while starting up, "D" while starting up, and "C" while starting up. Never any change! HELP!

You must use the DVD that originally came w/the computer. You cannot use system DVDs from one Mac to another because they are machine specific.

Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:

Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.

Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.

Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.

Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.

If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

After you resolve your problem: Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

Please correct your system profile so that you will receive the correct troubleshooting suggestions. Your system profile confirms you are using OS X (10.7.4) which is Lion.
