Can't get iCal to start mimized on logon

I've had this problem for a while - and tested it out with my wife's new iMac as well.

Checking the start up minimized box in User preferences does not make iCal start up minimized when I have it start up when I open it at logon.

It starts up in full screen. Does it (not) work that way for you?
