I have set up FaceTime on my MacBook Air and it says I am unavailable when others try to call me although I am able to call others. what can I do to fix this

I have set up facetime and while I can call people on my contact list, my contact shows unavailable (for no reason) to them. Any idea what I can do to remedy this? thanks

MacBook Air, iOS 6.1.4
