Q: iMac will not automatically connect to my wifi network

iMac is 21.5, mid 2011, running OSX Lion 10.7.5.  AirPort express is 2nd Gen version 7.6.3. It will not save a preferred network, so I have to select my network every time.

AirPort Express 802.11N (2nd generation), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Followed your instructions as follows: Opened up newtorks, clicked Wifi,SCR 4.png

clicked advanced, clicked ok, applied changes, restarted and got thisScr 1.png

Went back in to networks , clicked assist meSCR 5.png

    chose wifi, continue,SCR 6.png

selected my network, clicked continueSCR 7.png

Got the following message, clicked quit

    SCR 8.png

restarted computer, logged in, and got this AGAINScr 2.png

This has all been done under a completely new login ID, with the same result.

Some times when I start up my computer, it senses 2 of my "jayhawk" networks.  I assume that it is sensing the two seperate bands from my AirPort.  I could possibly have picked one band one time and another the next time because they were both identical, but I am not sure.

    Any other suggestions?

Ah, I'd rename one of the Jayhawks, so we can see what we're really dealing with... maybe Jayhawk2 for one of them?

These are all of the screen shots from my AirPort utility.  I don't have 2 seperate Jayhawk configurations.  Under wireless options, I have both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz connections enabled, which I figure is why I see 2 Jayhawk networks when I restart my computer and get the "none of your wireless netowrks are available." eventually one of them disappears.SC 1.pngSCR 2.pngSCR3.pngSCR4.5.pngSCR 4.pngSCR 5.pngSCR 6.png

Do you see any settings in my AirPort utility that I could change that would make a difference?

Finally solved it!  My prefered network had WEP for security.S1.png

When I deleted my prefered netowrk and tried to create one from scratch, I used WEP for security, and it could not be found.S2.pngS3.png

when I switched it over to WPA2, it found the network, remembered the network, and automatically connected when I restarted.  I KNEW it had to be some error on my part (as all of you probably did too).  Sorry for taking up a lot of your time with my error, but THANK YOU all for trying to help me (especially BD Aqua).
