Internet Certificate Issues?

Hi folks, just wondering if anyone can help me out here. I use Safari and have noticed this last few weeks when I go to a website like YouTube or even Google I get a pop saying that it could be a site pretending to be Google and would I like to continue. Something about the server certifcate not beng trusted?

I've also noticed the same thing happening when I;m in iMovie and try to share to youtube, a pop comes up and states there is a connection error and that the server may not exist?

Can anyone help me out on this?

I have my Firewall turned on.

Thanks

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

Step 1

The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.

Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”

While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.

Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?

After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Step 2

The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.

Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.

The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Test while in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

I'm also having an Internet certificate problem and running 10.8.4. It only happens when I use Safari [v.6.0.5 (8536.30.1)]. I tried accessing the same web page in Chrome, where there was no certificate request, and I had no problem.

The site has a payment button. When I click it, a message drops down that say "The website 'blah.blah.blah.com' requires a client certificate. This website requires a certificate to validate your identity. Select the certificate to use when you connect to this website, and then click Continue."

Originally, 3 different certificates were listed. The first one and second ones had expired, so I chose the third, which doesn't expire until 2015. But when I clicked on "Continue," the original message dropped down again. I tried this several times and always got the same result.

So I went into Keychain Access and deleted the 2 expired certificates, then returned to the problem page. Even though a supposedly active certificate was the only thing remaining, clicking "Continue" still resulted only in a repeated certificate request.

Next, I performed the tests you list above. Logged in as "Guest User," the certificate request did not appear. Logged in to my normal account after booting in Safe Mode, the request appeared and the "Continue" button caused it to be repeated.

Any idea what the fix is for my problem?

I've also been having some trouble with one of my email accounts on my iPhone for the past couple of days and had a problem with another iPhone app (can't remember which) that I was able to fix by simply resetting the app. Haven't found a fix yet for the email problem, though, and wonder if it has anything to do with my desktop Safari certificate issue.
