Age of Empires III strange error message

When I try to open the game I get: "The path (HD name) , contains a slash (/), backslash, or a period" All versions on HD get this message. Just played the game last week with no problems. Even reloading the game gives me this error message when I try to open the game. Cannot get past this point. It states below the error message that I must "remove the character from the appropriate Folder's name and try again. " What folder? I haven't done anything to the computer. I am mystified. This is Mountain Lion on a PC, 8.3. GA-X79-ud3 MB. Worked perfectly on this and other PCs and MACs for years and now this strange message. Any suggestions? Where is the folder that I must change? Terminal? I've looked a bit, but can't find anything.

PowerMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

You have OS X illegally installed on a non-Apple hardware in direction violation of the software agreement to use such a product.

I suggest you take the machine to a local PC repair shop and have it removed in favor of Windows 7 and buy a license to do so.

We cannot assist you with your problem.

Windows 7 will get support until 2020 and plays all the best 3D games, 3D game developers have pretty much shunned the OS X platform as the Apple hardware is unsuitable to the needs of 3D gamers.

Although you have the hardware for 3D games, the operating system you have isn't. But Windows does cater to this markets needs better.

Good Luck 🙂
