quake 3 help please!

i see people saying how quake 3 runs great on a macbook. but i have installed quake 3 to my hard drive (by dragging the quake 3 folder to the applications folder) and downloaded the universal binary app from apple's website. i load the app and asks for the quake 3 install folder, i show it. the game starts and the screen is just white. just white and it stays white, no sound. what am i doing wrong? anyone?

on a seuto related note can anyone please help with this problem as well?
