How to hide purchased apps

Please help me I can't figure out how to hide my purchased apps some articles have said swiping and it isn't working on my phone! Help!!

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3

In iOS 6, you cannot hide purchases on the iPad itself. You have to do it in iTunes on your computer. Hiding purchases on the iPad was removed in iOS 6.

Note: If the item you are unhiding is not already downloaded or installed on your device, it will begin downloading automatically. You currently cannot hide purchases on devices using iOS 6.

Apple removed the ability to "hide" purchases on iOS devices with iOS 6.0. However, you can still hide purchases in iTunes on your computer.

In itunes, go to the purchased items (search for a link to Purchased in the app store). When you get a list of items, hover mouse over them and click the "x" - If I remember that correctly.
