create a xp partition in mac OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)
I was going to create a windows partition for XP on my mac from my old dell restoration disk (earlier I posted something about windows 7, and that failed, so I was going to ask about this one). I read up that Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) does not support Windows XP, and only supports Win. 7. So, I decided I was going to research a little deeper, and wondered, could I just partition my hard drive (Macintosh HD) into 2 parts, and install windows that way? So I tried that (partitioned the hard drive, shut down my computer, held down the alt key, put the disk in, and boot from "Windows" cd). It later (after it booted into windows) gave me a message that a error had occurred, and I remembered that I put the second partition as a mac journaled format. I was wondering if changing that format would do any good, or if it would give me the same error, or just plain get rid of the Mac OS X and replace it with Windows (which I only want windows to run word, excel, and powerpoint). note that I do have parallels, and that just is too slow to meet my requirements.
