Q: Restoring shows unknown error 3194

I'm trying to restore iOS 6.1.2 to my iPad 2 WiFi.

The steps i'm following are:

  1. Download the compatible ipsw for iOS 6.1.2
  2. Pressing SHIFT+Click on "Restore iPad"
  3. Choosing the just downloaded file
  4. Waiting for the iPad to be restored.

The problem is that iTunes reboots my iPad, but after reboot it says "Can't restore iPad. An unknown error has occurred (3194)".

I read the iTunes error specifications and for error 3194 they suggested to check if the hosts file has some active redirect for gs.apple.com, i checked and there aren't redirects for this domain, there aren't redirects for *.apple.com.

How can i solve this?

iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 6.1.2

Yes, then the Apple moderator deleted it because it contained a term that violates policy (starts with a J and ends with an N).

The solution for me was to:

    1. goto a different/new/fresh/other computer

    2. install iTunes 11.5

    3. try again.

Worked for me after 4 hours of frustration.

(if another computer is unavailable, you might try creating a completely new user, and try then, but that is unconfirmed)

    Thank you.

How many letters are there in the solution, that is not allowed?

Thank you for your proposal, but I have tried updating my iPhone on another computer and I had the same result, so I'm getting a bit worried.

The last version of iTunes is 11.1, I believe.

    Kind regards.
