Wont boot - "Still waiting for root device"
Hoping someone can help me.
27 inch intel iMac (2009) model running OSX LION. Won't boot passed the grey screen with apple logo and spinning wheel.
I have done:
- Booted into recovery mode and ran repair disk and repair disk permissions - both OK.
- tried SMC & PRAM resets - no noticeable effect.
- Attempted to boot into safe mode - it just hung
So I booted into Safe (verbose) mode (using shift-cmd-v) and saw this at the end of the log:
Rooting via boot-uuid from /chosen: 17******-****-****-****-***********1 <-(i.e. the boot device I guess?)
Waiting on <dict ID=”0”><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID=”1”>IOResourcesMatch</key><string ID=”2”>boot-uuid-media</string></dict>
[IOBluetoothHCIController::setConfigState] calling registerService
Still waiting for root device
Still waiting for root device
Still waiting for root device
Still waiting for root device <-(keeps repeating this line)
Can anybody decipher this? Is there a way of fixing it?
Many thanks
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.1)
