I have an iphone 5 and I just bought the invisible shield from zagg and I have heard that it gives an orange peel effect on the screen. Is it worth getting a screen protector on an iphone 5? I have never dropped my iphone, so im worried about scratches to the screen.

If you have just bought it, you are free to apply it and form your own conclusions. I have a three year old iPhone and the screen is not yet scratched. But the plastic covering it is.
In my opinion a screen protector is not at all necessary to keep an iPhone or iPad in perfect cosmetic shape. They are purely a matter of choice, be it for piece of mind (protection), glare reduction (there are anti-glare types available) or easy of cleaning, or any other reason. Since you have it, you could just try it and see what you think.
I agree. My usual comment is: if Apple considered a screen protector to be necessary, you would have found one in the box. My plastic cover is courtesy of the Otterbox defender. Bought not for screen protection, but throwing at the ground protection.

Yeah it has an orange peel effect, I put it on about an hour ago and let it dry, and theres no bubbles or anything only an orange peel effect that you can see if you put the phone under a light.
There's your answer then: don't put your phone under a light. I am having real trouble trying to guess the sort of response you are looking for. 😕
I've never used a zagg so don't know what it actually looks like, but that doesn't sound like anything pleasant to see all the time. But only you can decide if you can live with it or not.
i use a glass screen protector - no effect on iPhone screen but if the phone is dropped the glass screen protector is likely to crack rather than the iPhone screen
