Inelgible for Icloud

Okay so I have spent the last week searching thru fixes to this issue and have not found any. I have a handful of songs and videos that will not upload to Icloud, I get the message "this item is inelgible for icloud". These have all been purchased thru Itunes under a different Itunes ID but yet over 750 other songs I downloaded under that same ID uploaded just fine. I stopped using that ID last year and now use a different one.

I have tried to create a AAC version but i get the message "protected files cannot be converted to other formats. I have tried to delete out of my library and in the folder on the hard drive create a mp3 version of the song but it will not upload.

Any suggestions ??

Music isn't stored in icloud. It's stored in the itunes store where you can download it as often as you want, as long as it is still available in the store.

Music doesn't back up to icloud, you can't sync music to your storage area in icloud. What you can do is subscribe to itunes match and upload your songs to the match servers. Are you using itunes match. If so ...

Try posting in the iTunes Match forum, you'll probably find more knowledgeable folks there.

So I keep getting replies from people that state music isnt stored in the cloud ? Okay then why is it everywhere you read on Apple site that states music in the cloud ? Why when I right click on a song it states "add to cloud" The cloud is a server, we all get it. Its not an imaginary fluffy cloud floating around in the sky with all my data, duh...but stop repsonding to me like your helping me stating that music is not stored in the cloud. It clearly states to upload to iCloud.

So if you can not help me with this do not respond unless you really know what your talking about.

I get an email from someone last night responding to this string, but yet it does not show up here stating the same thing. Do you not read Apple's web site ? Have you not clicked on the Match tab in iTunes and see the statement your iTunes library is now availabe in iCloud then right underneath it states X amount of songs are now available in iCloud.

like the guy Csound1 that clearly stated this:

You mean iTunes, iCloud does not store your music.

Ineligible item include protected items, songs that have a low sampling rate (96K or less) songs that are over 200MB, I'll find the complete list and post it here.

Songs you purchased from iTunes can be re-downloaded to your other devices provided they are signed into the same account.

Songs purchased some time ago will be 'protected' which means they can only be played or re-downloaded on devices signed into the same account. Protected songs cannot be converted to another format.

Songs purchased more recently are labeled as 'purchased' the the restrictions on 'protected' songs do not apply.

Protected songs purchased with a different account cannot be played on the account in use.

'iTunes Match', which has to be subscribed to, is meant to handle songs you have which you did not purchase in iTunes, e.g. ripped from your CDs. If the same song is in the Store it is listed as 'matched' and can be downloaded. If a song is not in the Store it can be uploaded to the 'cloud' (not 'iCloud') and stored there to be accessed from other devices.

Protected purchases belonging to a different account cannot be 'matched'. From what you say in your original post this appears to be the issue.

For the record I know how to spell ineligible, scotticunni writes quotes that suit his viewpoint and then pretends that they are from me.

As I detest liars I will leave it up to you guys to deal with him but know who you are dealing with.

Roger,

to your statement

Protected songs purchased with a different account cannot be played on the account in use- yes it can because im presently doing it with over 750 other songs also purchased on a different iTunes account.

Dont worry, I have this issued resolved. I contacted Apple care and Viola, everything is working great.....with no issues now.

oh Csound1 it must really pain you to have someone prove you wrong as i did. It clearly shows your lack of knowledge when it comes to iTunes, matching and well probably just about everything else.

Everyone can clearly see your misrepesentation of your knowledge in your first couple responses and funny how others were removed to not show your ignorance.....

I find it amusing that even in iTunes when you right click a song it asks you "send to cloud" but yet you want to say songs dont go to the cloud......what ever "your" idea is of cloud...mine is a server where all my data is stored....your idea it seems is the big fluffy things that float around in the sky.......

peace out homey......
