Will Final Cut Studio 3 work with OSX Mavericks?
Hi,
Does anyone know if Final Cut Studio 3 will work with the New OSX Mavericks when it's released this fall?
Thanks in advance

Pre release testers have to sign a Non-Disclosure agreement. You will have to be patient.
I would really love to know this as well. I understand what Apple is trying to do with FCPX... but many production companies including the one I work for still rely on FCP7 workflows and are on the lines of switching to Avid.
Here's the problem - what do you mean by "work?"
It will, I suspect, launch just fine, but if anything doesn't work properly, Apple likely won't be fixing it as FCP 7 has been EOLed.
I'm afraid you're best off either sticking to Mountain Lion or moving to FCPX/PP CC/Avid. 😟
I've FCS 2 and works fine on Mavericks
Just curious. Did you install rosetta to enable the fcs 2 installer or did you do the terminal workaround? Some people report problems with the Rosetta method, but I haven't seen any issues with the couple of systems I've done it on.
Simply I did upgrade system from 10.6.8 without formatting ang clean installation just on Snow.
I didn't run installer on 10.9 I had installed FCS 2 on Snow.
But if You know how to install FCS 2 on 10.9 on clean installed system please tell me.
All I know is I have to install Rosetta to run installer.
Please let me to know how to do this?
If you have the snow leopard install disk, you can do a custom install and just install rosetta.
One person on this forum, says there are serious issues with this workflow and links to another method.

I've done it a few times without any issues, and I haven't seen any definitive reports detailing the problems with this.
Doing a complete clean install is the much safer way to have a dependable system. Here's a user tip on OS and FCP installation

I'd also recommend creating a bootable clone of your startup drive before doing any os upgrades or application installations or upgrades. That way if things go south, you can easily return to the previous working system.
Terminal method is not for me- I have external hard drive where I have additional libraries.
So I should first install rosetta, then Instal FCS 2 and install updates and remove rosetta- am I right?
Not sure if it's possible to actually uninstall Rosetta.
Not sure what you mean by "I have external hard drive where I have additional libraries."
Could Rosetta corrupt the OS?
On LaCie I have installed all libraries from DVD Studio Pro, Soundtrack Pro, Final Cut Pro, Motion etc.
On Macintosh HD I have only main applications
MichaelLAX says that installing Rosetta in Lion or Mountain Lion can cause OS corruption. I've never seen any direct evidence of this. Do some searching here and you'll see endless back and forth regarding this. Having a bootable clone of your startup drive is protection for many possible problems including this one.
In the situation you describe with minimal material on your harddrive, keeping an up to date clone doesn't sound like a difficult task.
Thanks a lot- I was asking if I will have the situation when I'll must format.
I'll search is that true that OS X corrupts after intalling Rosetta and how can I remove Rosetta from the system.
Thank You
if you find anything definitive regarding Rosetta, please post back and let us know.
thanks
I'm searching but I've an idea that is the second way for me:
format and installing 10.6.8 than I'll install all software and upgrade OS X to OS X Mavericks- I think that is safe
Upgrading is not the best way to have a working version of fcp. Many people have reported issues (many more than have reported issues than the rosetta method).
