How do I figure out exactly what my white Apple laptop is.

I have a older white Apple laptop. I'm trying to find out just what it is. The battery is removable and the screen is the smaller one that was offered at that time. No box or any of the discs. It was purchased in 2007 or 2008.

Forgot to mention that the laptop with not power on. Battery was charged but no start up.

 (Apple menu) > About This Mac

The words following Processor should be sufficient to identify yours.

If you click the Version text twice, its serial number will appear. Type it in the field shown in this page: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do and click the Continue button.

Of course it is beyond its warranty period but the exact model description will be shown on the page that loads.

Find its serial number on the bottom case: MacBook: How to find the serial number

Type it in the web page I linked above.

If it has been without power for a long time its PRAM battery may be dead. This can prevent a Mac from booting. Use the resources on iFixit or PowerBook Medic to determine potential repair options.

Examine the serial number carefully. It's possible that a 5 looks like an S etc. I have never encountered a serial number that did not work with that site. Keep trying.

There are some sites that claim the ability to decode a Mac's serial number. You'll find them easily enough with a quick search. Try this one: http://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/
