Macbook Pro to HDTV via HDMI + mini display - Not recognizing

Hey apple community. I have a 2011 Macbook Pro and I am trying to hook it up to my Sony HDTV. I have it connected via HDMI and mini display adapter. I have the tv on the correct input, yet the TV displays "No Signal", as if nothing is connected.. The HDMI cable works for sure (I use it to connect the same TV to my cable box). Not sure what else to do - any suggestions? Thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Morning kirstenpolley,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If you know the hdmi cable is good.

You may want to try a different input channel or a different display adapter.
