Q: iCloud email on my phone incorrect

Hey.

Recently, I changed the email for my Apple account. However, the icloud email on my iPhone 5 is still the old one, and won't let me delete it because the email and password no longer match. How can I fix this?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.1

Assuming you mean that you are trying to change the iCloud ID on your device, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.

To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

This did not answer my question at all..

The problem is that I changed my email, and now iCloud won't let me change the email to the new one, it is greyed out and I can't erase it.

I also can't delete it because the password no longer corresponds to that email, so I don't know what to do.

What email address did you change?  Where are you looking when you say it is grayed out?

You cannot change and iCloud email address (@mac, @me or @icloud).  That is why I assumed you meant that you changed your iCloud ID, which takes the form of an email address.

I changed the email that was associated with my Apple account, it was a gmail, now it is my college email address. When I go into the settings for iCloud, I try to delete the account I have, but it doesn't let me because it still has my old email address put in and it won't let me delete it because the password no longer matches.

If you are looking in Settings>iCloud>Account, that's your iCloud account ID, not your email account, and must be changed by deleting the account and then signing back in with your changed credentials as I posted originally.

If that is not where you are looking when you say "When I go into the settings for iCloud" please explain exactly where in settings you are looking.

This is exactly what I do:

    I go to Settings>iCloud

Then I scroll all the way down and click Delete Account

It pulls up a spot for me to put in my password, but the email there is the one I want deleted, and I can't delete it when I put in the password. It tells me "Apple ID or Password is incorrect."

I never changed the password on my account, I only changed the email address, and it won't let me delete the old account to put in the new one.

I should add its asking for the password in order to turn off Find My Phone.

Others have posted this problem too and it must be a problem with the beta.  If you legitimately have the beta you can post your question in the delelopers forum.  It cannot be discussed outside of the developers forum on Apple's site.

You are not required to provide a password when deleting an iCloud account on iOS 5 or 6, which is why I was confused.

    Ah, that makes sense.

I'll go check it on the developers site. Thanks!

Hey, did you ever find a solution? I'm stuck with the same problem - I'm on iOS 7 beta, and can't turn off Find My iPhone because it's saying it's the wrong password. Please let me know if you found a solution, I would really appreciate it!
