How do you turn single page PDF preview off?

I'm an engineer and work with large drawings all the time. I frequently receive single page PDFs that are 10+MB in size, all the way up to 20+MB and it slows Mail way down to have to previw them inline and I'm not going to spend my time telling each individual PDF in each email I get that it's an issue to show as an Icon.

It is ridiculous that I can't change this functionality globally.

Are there any work arounds?
