HOW DO I KEEP BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD FROM CONNECTING WITH NEARBY COMPUTERS?

I work in an office where there are many Mac computers in a small area. Every time I shut down my laptop, my bluetooth keyboard wants to connect with another computer in the next office. I've never asked my keyboard to connecto this computer, but yet it always does. Every day I go in and turn off the bluetooth and remove my keyboard from the available list of devices, but every day (probably after a restart) the bluetooth is back on, trying to connect with my keyboard. Is there a way I can set the preferences on my keyboard and/or my laptop and/or the other computer so my keyboard only connects with MY computer? Please help! I'm going through tons of batteries! Thank you!!!

Hello MB0321,

The best thing that I could recommend would be to turn off your keyboard when your computer is powered off.

Turn the Apple Wireless Keyboard off.

  • For an aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard, hold the keyboard's power button for more than 3 seconds.
  • For a white Apple Wireless Keyboard, turn over the keyboard, and turn the power switch to the off position.
