How can i delete my apple-ID

If you delete the Apple ID, you will lose all of the apps you have and will not be able to update them if you forget that password. Your best bet is to modify the Apple ID to reflect the new email address. Go to appleid.apple.com and click on Manage my Apple ID.

Click here and set the payment method to None.

OK, but what about this issue: Traded in my iPhone for a different brand of phone. I had no idea that I had to sign out of iMessage before doing this. Now, my old phone is gone and my new phone cannot receive texts from people who have iphones and had me as a contact before. They try to send an iMessage and I have no way to receive an iMessgae now. On some server somwhere my AppleID still tells people they should send me iMessages. What is the solution to this issue? Deleting my AppleID would work to solve this issue, but I cannot ever delete the ID? What can Apple do for this?

This question has nothing to do with the original post here. No one would normally see this post. The only reason that I did is because I posted in the original thread. You should start your own post, it will get you a better response, especially since this one is a month old.

I have my reasons to delete the Apple ID associated with my email and Apple does not have the right to ask why. Apple should respect my ownership of my identity and my email.

However, they do not offer that respect.

The best solution then is to create a new, free, email somewhere and set the Apple ID you wish to delete to this bogus email. Also be sure to clear your payment to none.

Then forget about it and let Apple deal with this dead account.

Apple created this problem, they can deal with the consequences of their decisions.

What consequences? They probably have some cleaning mechanism that archives old and unused Apple IDs so they aren't clogging up the main servers but are still available should anyone need to use them again, specially if there are purchases associated with them.

As noted by others. The Apple ID is tied to all your purchase. If you deleted the ID there would be no way to get the purchases back.

In a world of stupid people, maintaing the Apple ID forever is a better choice than fielding lawsuits from every moron who deleted their ID and lost all their purchases with it because they did not realize this.

If you no longer wish to use your Apple ID then don't. There's no real benefit to actually deleting it at all.

No, actually, it is not. Go to the Apple legal page and read the terms of use you agreed to when you created your AppleID in the first place. You gave Apple the right to keep and store your registration information. By agreeing to the terms and creating an AppleID, you actually waived your right to remove the information you were, of your own free will, giving to Apple.

Not trying to sound like a know it all, but people need to realize that for just about any online service anywhere, when you create an account, that account belongs to the company hosting the site or service, not you. You surrender certain information to them in exchange for the right to use their site or service. If you are not comfortable with that, then you should never create the account in the first place.

Seems Apple has not yet made it very clear on how user can completely delete his/her account.

but take below as work around.

sign in the I'd from iTunes, go and remove your billing information,set it to none.

with the rest, you can edit and leave optional selection unfilled and try your best to gave fake info about other details like first, last names or birth day, then completely abandon the ID.

if its really very necessary for your to delete this ID, then take from me that we are never sure the account info has been deleted completely from host server after all backup is always on.
