is it going to help me get a faster and a better computer but there is one problem i cant download it i cant find out my password to download things

i had this computer since sunday, december 27, 2009 8:01 p.m when i was turning ten i never used it since because i used my dads his was faster better and didnt need a password now im 13 and i started using my computer but it is moving slow and isnt that good as my dads. becasue i dont know my password can u help me

For Lion/Mountain Lion

Boot to the Recovery HD:

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.

Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow

instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
