Jul 14, 2013 1:39 PM in response to Lars Ramboby cheekypaul, hey lars, stupid question, but is the live version 'live'? or are they guided by backing tracks?
as long as the live performance follows the cd version, they can be aligned, but how closely/well it will look depends on a lot of things. anyway, you know all that...
you need to timestretch the cd audio to fit live video.
find out the exact timeframe reading of a point near the beginning, that's clear, like a snare hit, hihat, or even the first word of the first line of the song, something very obvious, and do the same with a point towards the end.
measure that time.
now measure the same points on the audio file.
now make the cd audio proportionally match those points, and you'll be very close.
this ONLY works if the live version and the cd version are the same.
why they're out by 12 seconds suggests the live version was played faster OR slower, than the cd version.
can you hear the difference? if the live version is in a different key... well, you'd have mentioned that already...
confused?
