I have a white apple tv and "invalid format" is showing up on my tv. Is this a tv problem or an apple tv problem? How do I fix it?

I am having trouble viewing my pictures synced from the computer to my apple tv. The tv displays "invalid format". Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
