Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wrieless router.
Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
Step 3
Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
Step 4
In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
Step 5
Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
Step 6
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
Potential sources of interference
Step 7
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
Step 8
Hi All,
I have tried all of your instruction but can't fixing this problem.
My macbook search the wifi network found but can't connecting and when i took my macbook away from AP then my macbook not found the wifi network.
What's wrong on my macbook? Module wifi have issue or some config have problem?
Do you have this problem on all networks, or only on one?
Got this problem on all network.
Boot into Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, reboot as usual and post the results.
I just boot into recovery mode but only see a Macintosh HD don't see Recovery HD.
Please describe exactly what you did and what happened.
Oh sorry, It on gonna recoveryright now Safari lunch.
Does your network require a password? If so are you using it?
My macbook can access the wifi network while close AP but disconnect when i take macbook away from AP more than 5m.
After restart my macbook can't acceess wifi network show message "A connection timeout occured" again.
It's not clear whether you were able to connect in Recovery mode. If you were not, then I think you should take the machine to an authorized service provider for testing. Go to an Apple Store, if there is one in your country.
My macbook was fixed by take out the antenna cable at J0 then put it back.
Perhaps the connector loose and this cause make the signal lost.
Here's what solved the problem for me:
I went into my router settings and changed the SSID for the 5GHz band (the one that wasn't working).
It came up right away. Then I changed it back to the original name, because I like the name, and so that I wouldn't have to change all my other devices, none of which had any trouble on either band. It still worked.
Hope that works for others. For the record, I'd already tried safe boot and recovery mode without any joy.
