: )

AT&T iPhones 5 are considered as a factory unlocked when they are used "outside" the US and Canada - which is my case here-

So, yes it is originally an AT&T phone but neither me nor anybody else has unlocked it, hacked it, cracked it or whatever they call it!

I got a brand new sealed box form the US>removed an AT&T SIM>Inserted a Mobily SIM .... and.. here.. we ..are!!

No, AT&T phones are NOT considered factory unlocked outside of the U.S. They are locked to AT&T unless AT&T unlocks them or they are hacked. The only factory unlocked iPhone 5s in the U.S. are ones that are purchased at the Apple Store without a SIM (Verizon iPhone 5s are also unlocked but may not work on other LTE networks). So, it sounds as if your phone was not properly unlocked from AT&T. Therefore, the APN settings may not be correct, features may not work as expected. This would explain the behaviour you're seeing.

Then believe or not : ) Apple iPhone 5 AT&T (MD645LL/A) (Model:A1428) is unlocked outside the United States but does NOT work on other LTE networks outside of North America, on the other hand, the Verizon iphone 5 (CDMA) (Model:A1429) is also unlocked outside the United States AND it works just perfect on LTE networks almost all over the world because it supports a wide range of cellular bands more than AT&T does.

No, I don't believe it. AT&T phones are NOT unlocked for the rest of the world unless AT&T unlocks, them, they were purchased as unlocked from Apple, or they were hacked to unlock them. I answer hundreds of posts from people who take their AT&T phones to other countries and are disappointed that local SIMs don't work.

The fact that you are seeing the automatic, normally hidden FaceTime and iMessage activation SMS messages further demonstrates this.

Well, all what I'm sure of is that upon activation I got a "congratulations" message stating your iPhone has been unlocked!!

And if you'd said that up front, unstead of making a demonstrably false blanket statement about AT&T phones being unlocked outside of the US, you would not have made yourself look like a fool.

I believe u r right!, there are a models of an AT&T iPhones can we call it a factory unlocked when its ONLY used outside the U.S.

As a matter of fact I bought tow AT&T iPhones around 8 months ago, one for me and for my girlfriend and both are working fine here in China as well as in Hong kong, my gf hometown, its just not support the LTE networks but its OK, we can live with 3G :)
