My iPod is not turning after several hours of leaving it in charge mode. Do I have to seek battery replacement??

I have been charging my iPod classic for almost forever. It isnot turning on anymore. Sometimes does. But before that happened. It was working ok, but it has a little trick to charging. When I put on for charging mode, the indicatr\or suddenly went to full mode already, but when I take it out from the outlet, it shows that he battery is low and needs to be charged. The my iPod doesnt turn on anymore. It always says that the battery is very low and continues this way. Do I need to seek for a battery replacement?

Thanks for the advice in advance
