Hello!

We are a small non-profit organization located in Quebec and we would require some asistance, if possible.

We are trying to transfer the data contained from a mac X Tiger (10.4.11) to a mac X Lion (10.7.3). When trying to use the Migration assistant, it mentions us that we need to update it on the Tiger, although the Software updates program say we do not have any new updates. So the MA is stuck at 1.0.6.

Also, I am unfamiliar with the Mac OS (used to Windows). Any help would be amazing. We already tried reading the other posts about this problem, but we were unfamiliar with the terms and didn't quite understand what it meant.

Thank you all for reading!

What machine are you running Migration Assistant on? You should be running MA on your X Lion machine.

How are you connecting the two machines?

We tried connecting through Ethernet, both a direct link and from out router.

We ran MA from the Lion first, then Tiger without any luck either.

A friend suggested to establish a connection via Firewire, but the Tiger has a 6pin Firewire connection while the Lion has a Firewire 800 connection...

Thank you for your reply 🙂

What happened when you run Migration Assistant from Lion.

There is an adaper.

Here are some example. I've never tired one. I've never used a 400 to 800 to connect computers.

One of the best shop to talk to someone is OWC. Here is a list of cables.

Is your 10.4.11 machine a PPC?

You may want to post machine info.

blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the word hardware.

Leave out the serial number.
