Q: Macbook not accepting my wifi network after installing new OS... Ideas?

When installing the new OS updates, my macbook froze with about a minute left.  After waiting for 15 minutes, I restarted the laptop and everyting worked fine except for my wireless connection.  The wifi recognized my network but it wouldn't connect saying it had timed out.  I called my internet provider and we created a new network and password.  Again, I was able to see the newly created network but after typing the password several times, it kept saying "Connection Failed."  I used my iphone and ipad to connect to the new network and no problems.  For whatever reason, after installing the new OS my macbook stopped allowing me to use the wireless connection.

I've gone through the diagnostics and assist me but both times it explains the password is incorrect.  As I mentioned, that is incorrect as the password works just fine on my other wireless devices.  Do you all have any idea what could have happend??  It really slowed down my progress.

Any help or direction would be huge.  Thank You!!

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

    Which new software updates did you install?  Did you repair permissions and restarted your comp after the installations?

    ==================

    Try the basics first:

       Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.

    Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.

    System Preferences>Network

    Click the Assist Me button.

    In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

    Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

    Thank you for your response.  I really have no idea what you are talking about concerning repair permissions.  I updated the software as prompted from OS ML 10.8.3 to 10.8.4  I left the room to allow the update and restart.  I came back in to see that the computer was frozen with most of the update complete.  The message said less than 1 minute left.  I waited another 15 minutes and then I manually restarted the laptop.  When everything loaded, I checked to see if the update was successful, (it was) and I started to go about my work again.  It wouldn't connect to my wireless network.  It recognized it but when I tried to type in a password it would say "connection timed out."

    I restarted again and it still didn't work.  I called my Internet provider thinking it was a network problem.  We restarted the modem, hard reboot, created a new network and then created another new network.  My other devices, (iphone and ipad) were able to recognize and connect to the new network but not the laptop.  When I try and connect and type in a password it says, "connection failed."

    I have run the Assist Me and Diagnostic but it says the password is incorrect.  I know that isn't the case.  Also, Safari has stopped working.  Should I reinstall the new update?  Any ideas on what might be wrong?

    Thank you so much for your input!!

    password incorrect is sometimes solved by using Keychain Access and Repairing your login keychain, and making sure the password stored there for network login is correct.

    Thanks for the tip Grant, however it didn't have my new network stored in the login keychain.  Very odd... I still can't figure out what this update did to my laptop.  I wonder when Apple will send out a new update so I can fix this problem.  Any other ideas in the mean time?
