Cannot Power on Air

I was using my Air last night. I did not shut down, but just closed the lid (screen). The next morning I could not awaken the computer. There appeared to be no power going to the computer. This was either plugged or not plugged in. Is there any way to try to reset? I tried holding down the power button but this did not work. I even attempted control alt del, I couldn't help it. I think I need to take it to an Apple store but was hoping someone I some ideas.
