Queuing issues with SMB printer

I'm attempting to set up printing to a printer on a Windows server via SMB from various Macs running v10.8.4.

However, only one job goes into the queue on the server, and once released for print (we use pull printing) the next job queues. The rest stay on the local Mac queue.

Has anyone seen this behavior before, and if so is there a solution? We don't see similar behavior with our Linux based systems.

Is the Mac print queue going into a paused state after the first job is sent? If so, then with the system you are using, if the Windows input queue is changing to a paused state while it waits for the user to release the job, then this would set the Mac queue to a paused state also.

Something else to look at is the printer driver on the Mac. Some expect a direct connection to the printer and can cause problems when this does not exist. A test would be to create another queue on the Windows server that is not configured to use the pull printing system and see if the Mac still pauses for multiple print jobs.

Once last suggestion would be to enable LPD/LPR Print Services on the Windows server and then use LPD on the Mac instead of SMB to connect to the shared printer.
