iCloud unilaterally deleted storage?

iCloud dropped 6.1 gig of my storage from one minute to he next, and I can't locate anything helpful on the menus. Is there a helpful article I've missed? A fix? The sync then proceeded to retroactively wipe a lot of phone numbs and I'm not sure what else.
