Home sharing is on but why can't I use my iPad apps

I Have home sharing turned on and it only sees my main hardrive iTunes account, but does not see my IPad 2. Is it first of all possible for the Apple TV to see the iPad and if so can or run the iPad apps?

I even through a syncing hub connected the iPad to the Apple TV hoping it would be able to see it this way but had no success here either. What am I doing wrong?!
