I can't get rid of spinning wheel.

Somehow, in theprocess of downloading and emailing a picture, I ended up with a messy desktop, After closing everything, I ended up with a blank sheet

labelled in the uper margin as a ,JPG file I had loaded, but no image and a spinning colored wheell. It has spun for hours now,

I can't close it.

I have tried turning the computer on and off,

I can't delete it,

What to do?
