I have a pretty good MBP i7 with 8GB ram.
When rendering a video in Final Cut 7, it takes HOURS to complete.
The video I'm currently working on has litterally 3 layers.
1: Image
2: Looping .mov file
3: audio file.
ANY idea why this would take FOREVER to render?

WHat does Image mean?
What are your clip properties (command 9) and sequence settings (command 0)? Please post screen shots.
How long is your sequence?
Any effects?
I have a .mov file at about 9 seconds looping for around 5 minutes.
I have a PNG file on TOP of that the whole time. Just a static image.
And I have a audio track below it.
Sequence range from 5-6 minutes.

only 'effect' is a fade in and a fade out.
FCP doesn't work very well with h.264. Convert your clip to Pro Res and let FCP determine the proper settings automatically in a new sequence. Your audio should be uncompressed (AIFF) 48 KHz.

So I converted the video to a prores and it still renders very slow. The only thing that changed, is that I now has the unlimited RT option now to render in real time. But the end result with the video still takes forever to save.
Other than the still I don't see why it should need rendering. When you did the new sequence and dropped the clip on it the timeline, did you get a render bar?
