I can not close down my mail account, it is not highlighted
I cannot close down my mail account. When I highlight mail, QUIT is not highlighted. How do I get out of there?

So Mail.app is well and truly stuck? If you can't reboot to clear this (which is worth a try) then Option-Click on the Mail.app icon in the Dock and select Force Quit.
