Before you make the trip, have you tried a reset?

Simultaneously press and hold the Home and Power/Sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo. It takes 10-15 seconds so be patient and don't release until the logo appears.

I am having the same problem, iPad 2. We're you able to fix it?

May sound silly but make sure that your mute button (next to volume control) is not switched on.

My Instagram videos will work with headphones or an auxiliary speaker plugged in, but are mute otherwise. I am on an iPad 2.

I finally have sound thanks to this site!...

Essentially:

- double tap the home button

- swipe finger to the right & the orange music icon + play controls will appear at the bottom of the screen

- the sound icon will likely have a slash through it, indicating that the sound is muted --> tap the sound icon to remove this slash and turn the sound on

That's it!

*I also discovered that this set of controls provides quick access to altering screen brightness (located beside the sound icon), as opposed to adjusting it via settings (which is more time consuming)!!

Below are the directions provided on the site I referenced, which I paraphrased and provided additional details to above. Read these if you need further explanation:

"Open iPad “Settings” -> “General”, if “Use Side Switch to: ” is set to “Mute”, then make sure your iPad’s Side Switch is not turned on.

If “Use Side Switch to: ” is set to “Lock Rotation”, then double tap the “Home” button, swipe from left to right on the task bar, until reaching the first page. Make sure the “Sound” icon is not set to Mute."
