Can I go back to iTunes?

I have a new exercise app that interacts with the music app but not podcasts (it breaks in, tells you when to run, sprint, walk, etc). I like listening to podcasts when I exercise. I've tried just deleting the podcast app and the existing podcasts appear in my music app. BUT, when I try to download a new podcast or update my subscriptions, it forces me to download the app. In the store, it forces me to download the app.
