Sorry Greg, but the standard answers do, of course, not help, because in the standard answer the driver should be available. But it isn´t! Reading that it should be there is not the solution.

As I said before: I´m stuck in the following routine (translated from german):

There is software from apple available for your printer.

OK.

searching...

Software not available on the server at the moment.

-> no installation

Had that already tried this yesterday. It leads to the final step, where you have to add the printer, when the system (again) says:

There is software from apple available for your printer.

OK.

searching...

Software not available on the server at the moment.

-> no installation

My conclusion: The driver is simply really missing on the apple server! And you can´t install it from anywhere else, which captures you in a driver-vacuum you can´t solve!

The driver for the HP Officejet 7000 E809a is included with the HP driver download that Greg provided a link to. So if you have installed this driver suite, or the one that Dr Mac has linked to, and the driver is not found by the OS then you have a problem with your Mac.

Since the reset did not help you could try trashing the HP folder located in Library > Printers and then running either HP driver installer shown above.

The HP driver works in my case.

Open the HP_Mountain_Lion_Ink_SW_v12.23.18.dmg

and go to HP Software/HP Installer.app/Contents/Packages

Run the HP Officejet 7000 E809a Instantiation files.pkg

You may also need to first clear all the old HP drivers and

you would need to unplug your network and USB HP printers.

  1. From the computer desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD icon.
  2. Double-click the Library folder.
  3. Double-click the Printers folder.
  4. Right-click the HP folder, and then select Move to Trash .
  5. When prompted, type the Administrator name and Password for the computer, and then click OK .
  6. Double-click the PPDs folder.
  7. Double-click the Contents folder.
  8. Double-click the Resources folder.
  9. Locate your printer in the printer list, and then right-click on your printer and select Move to Trash .
  10. Click the Trash icon on the taskbar, click the Empty button, and then click OK to empty the trash.
  11. Click System Preferences
  12. Double-click Printers & Scanners
  13. In the Printers list, if there is the HP printer, and then click the Minus button ( ) to delete it.
  14. Reboot
  15. Run the updated HP driver.
  16. Connect USB and network
